A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Patrons of Cement Public Schools,
As we ready for the 2020-2021 school year, I would like to share with our patrons some of the plans and preparations being made. We are very optimistic that we can return to school as normal on August 10, but are keenly aware that not everyone will be comfortable with that arrangement. In anticipation, Cement Public Schools will offer both traditional instruction, with students attending school in the normal classroom setting, as well as distance learning for those families who do not feel comfortable with their children being exposed to other students and staff.
The district has already purchased enough Chromebooks so that every Cement Public School student will have one for the coming year. For those students who do not have internet access, arrangements can be made through the school for internet connectivity for academic purposes, at no expense to the family. The district has also purchased a new curriculum that will enable teachers to not only conduct class in the traditional setting, but via distance learning as well. This will not only allow us to provide distance learning for any student who wishes it, but also allow continuous learning in the event of a mandatory school shut down like we had last March.
We have purchased a fogging device to help sanitize rooms, the touchless digital thermometers to monitor student temperatures, and although masks will not be required, they will be made available should someone choose to wear one.
As I am sure you are aware, the information and institutional recommendations seem to change daily regarding the Covid-19 virus, which can be very frustrating when trying to develop long-term plans. However, if you have any questions or concerns regarding the August 10 return to school, please don’t hesitate to contact me either via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone at 405-489-3216. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding in these trying times.
