As you may or may not know, the School Board is asking the patrons of Cement Public Schools to approve two bonds on Tuesday, March 2, totaling $300,000. Voting will take place at your regular polling location. It is projected that passage of these bonds will not increase local property taxes, but rather replace other bonds going off the rolls in June of 2021.
The first bond proposal is a multifaceted building bond that the Board plans on using to address many issues throughout the district. Projects for these funds include, but are not limited to, renovations to the kitchen, renovations to the restrooms in both the elementary and high school, exterior paint for the high school, and purchasing mowers and maintenance equipment. The budget for the listed project is $245,000. The second bond proposal is a transportation bond in the amount of $55,000 to purchase a bus.
Again, the election is Tuesday, March 2 at your regular polling location. It has been projected that the proposed issue will not increase taxes, merely replace the bonds that are going off the rolls in June.
